Furniture Procurement and 3 of our most common FAQ’s

If you’ve read through our service offerings, you know that furniture procurement is something we offer to our clients. This includes the space planning, furnishing and accessory specification, procurement, receiving and white glove delivery of any and all merchandise for our clients. With the overwhelming amount of product that is available, there can be confusion on some of the vocabulary used to talk about furnishings, so I wanted to clear up some of those here.

  1. What is Stock vs. Custom Furniture?:

Custom furniture is made-to-order, meaning it can often be sized to the specific needs of the space, and we can select our own finishes and fabrics. With stock furniture, the fabric and finish has already been specified by the manufacturer and produced within those specifications - likewise, size and finish options are limited. As a result, stock product (while still a great option in many cases) doesn’t always offer the same unique feel that a custom piece can bring to a space. To be clear, stock furniture does not always mean “available immediately”. We will always provide ETA’s for each piece we propose to our clients so the lead-times are as clear as possible.

  2. Can I sit in everything before we order?

We source our product through a large collection of to-the-trade-only vendors. We visit furniture markets regularly to see the product in person, feel and test the quality, sit in various upholstery items to ensure a top level of comfort, and familiarize ourselves with any new product we would specify for your home. Those markets are open to design professionals only, so while we would love to have you join us, we will need you to trust in our expertise and guidance with any pieces recommended.

  3. How does product install work?

Any product or merchandise purchased for your project through CG Studio is shipped to our receiving warehouse. Our warehouse team are trusted professionals who unpack and inspect every item, note damage so we can file a claim for a replacement at no cost to you, and safely store product until installation day. We prefer to have all of your items delivered and installed together so that the full vision of the space can come to life at once. If white-glove service is not what you are looking for, you can shop our curated collection of home goods and furnishings on our website and these items will ship directly to your home.
